Curt Newport believes that the next generation of Boone County citizens is best served when schools and government work together. His educational outreach program is designed to enhance the learning experience of high school government students by providing guest lectures on county government.

Students respond well to a lecture from a local elected official. This direct contact with a government officer enhances their understanding of the importance of local government.

By explaining the structure of county government, Newport reinforces important concepts including the three branches of government, separation of powers and checks and balances. Students learn about the duties of local elected officials and why each is important.

Special thanks to Blackhawk Bank for sponsoring the cost of materials.
