Curt Newport

Curtis P. Newport, Boone County Treasurer

Curt Newport became the Boone County Treasurer on July 1, 2008, having been appointed by the County Board to fill a vacancy in the office.  He was then elected in November 2008.

Newport served for eight years as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Rock Valley Credit Union, where he gained valuable knowledge and insights about the financial industry.  Fifteen years of service on the Boone County Zoning Board of Appeals helped provide a sound working knowledge of county government.

Previous careers include nine years as a dairy farmer, five years in agricultural sales and management, and nine years as a buyer/estimator at a small manufacturing company.

Over the years, Newport has lent his financial expertise to a number of community organizations, including the First United Methodist Church Finance Committee, Treasurer of the Belvidere Jaycees, Treasurer of the Boone County Photography Club, and Treasurer of the Baltic Mill Art Fair Committee.  He is also a superintendant of the Boone County Fair, a member of the Boone County Farm Bureau, Belvidere Area Chamber of Commerce, Illinois County Treasurers’ Association and the Illinois Association of County Officials.

Newport has a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Illinois.  He resides in the Village of Timberlane with his wife, Becky, has one stepson and one grandson.
